Time Flies!!

I guess it's been a while since I've updated. Time has been going by sooooo fast! I really meant to update the beginning of Nov. because so much went on. First of all we dressed up as a little devil family for Halloween (totally unoriginal, but easy). Then, my birthday...24!! Then Avi's baby blessing - Porter did a great job and we really appreciated our families for comin' the distance!

I am so lucky!!!

Thanksgiving was totally amazing! We went to my fam's in Cedar and played games, watched movies, and just had the perfect "break" from life. We also found out that my sister, Alysa, is pregnant (this will be her 4th)! She's already 5 months along...I guess she was waiting to find out what she was having before she told us...but the babe isn't cooperating and there's no telling. Alysa also said she didn't want to make it a big deal...she hates all the attention...I love that about her, she really makes me laugh. It is a big deal!! So now, Avi will have 2 cousins her same grade with Holly due beginning of Jan and Lys due end of March!

Before we went to Cedar we visited our friends Wil & Lauren (and Liam!) in Boise! Porter had a rugby game down there and we decided to make a trip of it and spend some time with them. They own a Great Harvest down there and have done an awesome job with it!! We had so much fun!

3. Took our Subaru somewhere local to get fixed and convinced the SLC place to help pay the costs...they kinda caused the car problem anyways.

8. Watched "The Orphanage" (rated R, but edited). It's in Spanish but has subtitles...it's one of the best freaky movies I've ever seen! I'm hoping to borrow it for my sister Alysa who shares my strange liking for scary things.

HALLOWEEN!

I love Halloween! I love scary movies, candy, dressing up, and everything to do with the holiday!

Here are my favorite halloween movies:

Last year we got an edited copy of "Vacancy" and that movie scared the crap out of me - I might be weird, but I really like being scared. I'm lucky though because I'm usually only scared during the movie and it doesn't affect me afterwards.

Any suggestions for a good Halloween movie? Also...if anyone has any Halloween traditions I'd love to hear them...I need ideas of fun stuff to do (Halloween lasts all month you know!)

7-11 baby!

Well Avilyn is growing so fast! I had her weighed yesterday (her 3 week birthday) and she weighs 7lbs 11oz! She's gained more than a pound from her birth weight! I've been working on getting her to smile and I think she's smiled at me twice...but it's hard to know for sure when she is so little and it's not consistent. She's can focus on my face for quite a while though so I think she'll be a regular smiler soon.

um...as for Porter and I...we're tired, but happy! Port's way busy with school, work, & rugby (which by the way, they won their first game against Weber and Porter scored I think14 points). He still manages to be the best daddy and husband!
I've started playing soccer again (just women's 3v3...very laid back games). I knew I'd be out of shape, but I didn't know my legs would be filled with lead and that I'd trip over them rather than the ball.

Welcome Avilyn Macey - Sept. 3rd 2008

She is the best thing that has ever happened to Porter and I! She is a really good baby. All I want to do is hold her...which is why I haven't gotten around to posting pictures until now :-) She weighed 6lbs 9 oz and was 19 1/2". We only got to hold her for a little while before they took her away to monitor her breathing, but she is as healthy as can be now! I took her in today to have her weight checked. Since she lost a little weight before we left the hospital the goal was to return to her birth weight in 2 weeks...well in 5 days she has surpassed that and today weighed 6lbs 11 oz. I was actually a little sad she was getting bigger that fast! Every moment is so precious right now and I don't want her to grow up.

2 weeks left!

Well first of all we only have two weeks left until our baby is due! It's pretty unreal. We had a Dr.'s appointment this morning and learned that I am 2 1/2 cm dilated and 80% effaced. It's pretty exciting to know that were not that far from adding a little girl to our family...and once again, very unreal. Porter's mom is going to California for work this weekend and she's so nervous I'll go into labor early. I don't think I will though...my house isn't clean yet :-)
Some good news: My friend Tori (& Adam) Andersen is pregnant! And so is Rachel (& Rob) Smith! Anyway, here is a picture update!

Baby Shower Time!

We’ve been given a few baby showers recently and I don’t have any pictures (I’m relying on other people to send me copies)!! It really amazes me how thoughtful & kind people are. Our friends & family have made us feel so important lately and it makes me want to be that kind of person in return.

A couple weeks ago my friends had a baby shower for me. Almost all my friends were able to make it. My friend Lauren even came from Boise. I just feel so blessed to have so many great friends! *I have to mention how dang excited I am for the Bill Murray onesie the Brittany’s (Blanch & Wilkes) ordered for our baby.

Also a few friends from work got together to do a lunch/baby shower for me. It was really unexpected for them to do that, but so nice. Amy Gittins threw it for me…she made the cutest invites I have ever seen & she paid for my lunch (we went to Chilis)!

My family got together on Pioneer day for a baby shower & swimming at my aunt’s house. We always have such a great time together…and my aunt Karen sure knows how to liven things up. We had a holding breath contest in the pool, which she called the “sleeping baby”. We had to “sleep” (float) then when we couldn’t hold our breath any longer and came up for air we had to “wah” like we were waking up. It was just a spur of the moment game & so silly, but I’m glad my family will participate in those things!

Porter’s fam has also been so supportive. We had a little shower at his Grandma Macey’s place (his aunt Liz made the cutest little treat bags – I wish I would have taken pictures of little things like that to put in baby’s scrapbook). And in a week we’re having a BBQ with Heidi’s (Porter’s mom) fam…it’s actually at Heidi’s best friend’s mom’s (uncle’s 2^nd cousin’s little brother’s…just kidding) house…which sounds funny, but they’re just like family.

I’m sure it’s probably really boring to read about the showers, but I just feel so blessed and want to make sure everyone knows how thankful we are! People have gone out of their way to serve Porter & I and it’s hard to express just how grateful we are!
